In March 2024 the All Domain Anomaly Resolution Office at the Pentagon issued a 63 page report titled "Report on the Historical Record of US Government Involvement with Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena." In 2023 lawmakers had ordered AARO to issue a report on its findings. The report covered the alleged government funded findings from 1945-2023. It allegedly examined all the historical documents and conclusions on their major studies of Flying Discs and UFOs dating back to 1945. It appears that the report was a repeat of the false claims the DOD had released relating to classified major studies on unidentified aerial phenomena.

The report contradicts the historical documents that have been authenticated by major UFO researchers and through FOIA releases, and the information in the historical correspondence records. We have been accused of misinterpreting the evidence. However, I feel confident that the original USAF studies documents, correspondence files in prestigious physical archives, Project Blue Book investigations, biographies and public statements by former Project Blue Book Directors, scientists, and evidence of a cover-up by the military intelligence community are not a misinterpretation by pioneering researchers.

My book with renowned UFO researcher Stanton T. Friedman, MSc, Fact, Fiction, and Flying Saucers is footnoted and well documented. We reveal the most compelling UFO evidence, including large-scale scientific studies, the USAF, FBI, CIA, and NSA's involvement, the government scientists whose role it was to deny, and the media's role in disclosure and denial. Read below for a brief look into the content of our book.

1947-1949: PROJECTS SIGN AND GRUDGE
Project Sign
  • December 30, 1947
  • Directive: Collect, collate, and evaluate all sightings that could affect national security.
  • February 11, 1948: assigned to the Air Technical Development Center.
  • Analyzed and evaluated 243 cases
  • Favored the ET hypothesis.
Project Grudge

1952 Director Major Edward J.Ruppelt

MAY 1952 MEETING AT PENTAGON

Donald Menzel, Ph.D., Harvard Astrophysicist, closely connected government scientist, NSA

Dr. Menzel's disinformation began in 1952, when the CIA made inquiries into the USAF files on UFOs. He met with the Chief of the Directorate of Intelligence Special Study Group under Major General Samford, which included General William Garland.

Dr. Menzel informed the study group that he intended to publish two debunking articles in LOOK and TIME magazines stating that he had solved the UFO problem through a few elementary experiments. The committee refused to support Menzel's cover-up. Menzel claimed that hoaxes play a large part in  UFO sightings. General Garland replied, "Only 2%."

7/29/1952 PRESS CONFERENCE AT THE PENTAGON-THE LARGEST SINCE THE END OF WW II

Comments on UFOs by USAF Major General John A. Samford

  • “We’re not trying to discredit the observers. That’s the reason that I said that we have many reports from credible observers of incredible things…There is nothing else in the work that can do these things except phenomena!”
  • “I don’t think that we are quite sure that Menzel’s theory of temperature inversion or that scientists are sure that is a good theory. It is supported by some people. Other people who have equal competence, it would appear, discredit it.”

THE CIA FUNDED ROBERTSON PANEL, JANUARY 14-18, 1953

Dr. H.P. Robertson, Chief Science Consultant  to the CIA

  • 15 cases were reviewed in detail.
  • Dr. H.P. Robertson informed the closed session panel that their job was to reduce public concern by assigning prosaic explanations to UFO reports.
Participants:
  • Dr. Thornton Page, Astrophysicist, Deputy Director of the Operations Research Office in the Department of the Army participated.
  • Dr. Luis Alvarez, radiation physicist, UC, Berkeley, Later, Nobel Prize winner in Physics.
  • Dr. Samuel Goudsmit, atmospheric physicist, chief scientist at Brookhaven National Labs.
  • Dr. Lloyd Berkner, intelligence consultant, Physicist, Assistant to the Secretary of State, Missed 2 ½ days of sessions. MJ-12.
  • Later, 4 representatives from the USAF were invited into the session.
PANEL RECOMMENDATIONS
  • Panel members stressed the opinion that UFOs should be viewed as “phenomena” much as the “Foo Fighters” of WWII.
  • Recommended a debunking campaign that would reduce the public’s interest in flying saucers through television, motion pictures and popular articles.
  • Scientists were encouraged to debunk UFO reports through deductive reasoning.
  • Intelligence AgencySurveillance of civilian UFO groups and their leaders.
PROJECT BLUE BOOK SPECIAL REPORT #14
USAF FOREIGN TECHNOLOGY DIVISION 1955
BATTELLE MEMORIAL INSTITUTE
3210 CASES EXAMINED IN DETAIL
CHI SQUARE ANALYSIS
USAF SECRETARY DONALD QUARLES’ STATEMENT ON BBSR #14
OCTOBER 25, 1955

“On the basis of this study, we believe that  no objects such as those popularly described as flying saucers have overflown the United States. I feel certain that even the Unknown 3% could have been explained as  conventional phenomena or illusions if more complete informational data had been obtained.”

The illusion is that he converted 21.5% to 3%.
THE MOST PROLIFIC ANTI-UFO PROPAGANDIST OF THE 20TH CENTURY: PHILIP J. KLASS
AN EXAMPLE OF HIS DISINFORMATION REGARDING DR. J. ALLEN HYNEK
Philip J. Klass complains to the FBI concerning an article they published by Dr. J. Allen Hynek in the FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin FBI in 1975

Photo to right is Dr. J. Allen Hynek

KLASS' STATEMENT TO THE FBI
“IN STRONG TERMS LACED WITH SARCASM”

According to Klass, Dr.Hynek is “the spiritual leader of the vocal group of ‘believers’ and ‘kooks’ who claim that we are being visited by extra- terrestrial spaceships…The FBI has given its endorsement to a hoax (that UFOs are of extra-terrestrial origin) and to a fraud.” (Mr. Moore to Mr. Heim)

THE FBI RESPONDS: “Klass was informed that Hynek is a highly respected scientist recognized by all creditable professionals in his field of expertise, who is affiliated with a leading university.“ (Mr. Heim, FBI)

KLASS RESPONDS: “He won’t be for long!”

FBI STATEMENT REGARDING KLASS: “Klass’s attempts to discredit Hynek are totally without foundation. Hynek could scarcely have any better scientific credentials. All of his writings and public statements that were examined prior to his publication disclose a meticulously objective and scientific view of the UFO phenomenon.”

STATEMENT BY STANTON T. FRIEDMAN, MSc REGARDING PHILIP J. KLASS, B.S. AND HIS SKEPTIC CRONIES:

  1. Have facts in hand before putting mouth in gear.
  2. Visit archives to get firsthand documents and solid information
  3. Learn about how security works. (Please don’t suggest that governments can’t keep secrets when there is so much proof that they can). Don’t suggest that professionals working under secrecy would tell their wives classified information, or that classified work is published on the internet and on You Tube.
  4. Insist that debunkers provide evidence of their absurd claims.
  5. Sometimes scientists are wrong, especially when dealing outside their specialties. The late Carl Sagan twice claimed that while there are interesting UFO sightings that aren’t reliable, and reliable UFO sightings that aren’t interesting, but there are no sightings that are both reliable and interesting. Unfortunately, he provides no reference to any data supporting this totally false claim.
  6. Remember that the question is not: are ALL UFOs alien spacecraft, but are any.
  7. Avoid crazy claims such as UFOs are never observed on radar, are never seen by astronomers, are only seen in the USA, and never land. One of the silliest claims is that governments can’t keep secrets. See the 156 pages of TOP SECRET UMBRA NSA UFO documents, so heavily redacted that one can read only one sentence per page. CIA TSU UFO documents were all blacked out.
  8. "Remember, we serious ufologists want research done by investigation, NOT by proclamation. The facts shout that SOME UFOs are of alien origin, that star travel is possible, and there is a government cover-up."
